jeff: kate! jack! come downstairs for dinner
(two pairs of little feet running down the stairs)
kate: what's for dinner, daddy?
jeff: salmon, rice and edamame
kate: AWWWWWWWWW! i don't WANT that. i want KID food!

Liv and I used to always joke about what was for dinner. I'd ask what she wanted, she'd say she didn't know, and then I'd make ridiculous suggestions.
After "liver and onions" one time she said "No, Daddy, try to put the picture of kid food into your head."
Want to eat dinner at your house, by the way. I'm not sure if it would be harder to get my kid or my wife to eat that menu.
I want salmon, rice, and edamame.
An edamame tip the kids will love: When Ilaiy and I fixed edamame, we bought the ones still in the pod. Then we set up a bowl across the room and played "podball." A point for every empty pod that makes it into the bowl.
My kids LOVE edamame. We have a long list of "kid" meals that are tolerable to adults, too. Taco night, meatballs (subs or over pasta?), turkey sausage grilled & cut with toothpicks & dipping sauces, hamburgers (with fresh salsa & avocado for adults & ketchup for kids).... But my guys like steamed shrimp, salmon, flank steak, too....
